The Safe-Hit Division of Energy Absorption Systems, Inc. announces the introduction of its new KonaPost™ as an ideal alternative to traditional orange cones and markers.

The KonaPost is particularly beneficial in those applications where orange cones or markers must be quickly deployed in specific patterns on a regular basis. The KonaPost’s 6” (152 mm) plug is inserted into a hot-dip galvanized steel receptacle that is recessed into the pavement. The posts can be deployed when needed and quickly and easily removed by lifting them out of the pavement receptacles.

Traditional orange cones are easily knocked over pushed out of position after an impact, and easily lost and damaged, potentially creating a safety risk. The KonaPost is extremely impact resistant, and more likely to stay upright, in position and not get lost or damaged. It has been successfully tested to withstand more than 200 vehicle impacts and 200 “wheel overs” at 45 mph.

The KonaPost is made of durable injection molded urethane plastic and features a patented tapered wall design. Its hot-dip galvanized steel receptacle helps ensure posts stay in place after impacts.

It also features 360-degrees visibility and is available in white, orange or yellow (as well as custom colors), There are no protruding metal parts, and it is made of one-piece post construction, is easy to install and withstands wide temperature extremes.

The KonaPost is 19” (48.26 cm) high and 4” (10.16 cm) wide, while the height of the plug is 6” (156.24 cm), width of the receptacle plate is 4.5” (11.43 cm) and depth of the receptacle is 8” (20.32 cm).

Applications where the KonaPost is an ideal replacement for orange cones and other traditional markers include gate closures, reversible lanes, lane redirects and lane closures on roadways and in parking lots and garages. They are also applicable for event traffic and pedestrian management.

KonaPost is certified to comply with FHWA requirements for a Category 1 Traffic Control Device.
